The project intends to give continuity to the actions that the University of Valencia has been carrying out in the town of Chirikyacu (Peru), to improve the living conditions of the natives through the development of productive tourism and agricultural activities.
The construction of the Valencia Wasi hostel in Chirikyacu has made it possible to provide accommodation and attention to visitors and has increased the influx of tourists who wish to discover the natural environments and customs of the community. However, it was necessary to accompany them in a learning process that would ensure the continuity and sustainability of the initiative.
The existence of the shelter generates new business expectations since the tourist activity can be complemented with the production of handicrafts that the women have been making. Despite this, it is necessary to diversify and adapt the products made, improving their presentation to be more attractive to the demand of visitors. Therefore, with this project a new center (Warmiwasi, home for women) was built to carry out educational, craft and recreational activities that aims to be a craft cultural center. The educational conditions in the environmental field and health and the facilities of Valencia Wasi were also improved.
