The project "Mujeres Maestras del Perú" reflects a tradition that consists of vindicating the group of teachers, in this case the women who are professionally dedicated to teaching infants and primary schools.

Based on a selection of teachers and educational centres, especially among individuals and groups living in conflictive areas or with great economic and social precariousness (a selection in which the *PUCP has participated as a partner), the opinions are recorded on video. of these teachers.

From this first support in images, we went on to complete the exhibition "Mujeres Maestras del Peru" incorporating new perspectives: the works of the students of the educational centres involved who draw their teachers, and also the peculiar interpretations of this reality are presented by visual artists who graphically analyse them. With all this, the exhibition "Mujeres Maestras del Perú" is prepared.

The fact of taking the materials made to different schools in the territory of museums and cultural centers supposes a vital contact between the educational reality and the cultural and artistic reality. It has been verified that visits by the population of the most peripheral neighbourhoods have increased considerably when the project has been implemented in other countries. Both the face-to-face visits to the exhibition halls and the media campaigns and publications generated by these exhibitions have shown us the positive effect of the project, since the teachers feel more recognized in their work, as well as the students and families. Take part in the project.
