TYPE OF SERVICES
We design, develop and validate methods for the determination of components in all types of cosmetics (solar products, personal hygiene products, hair products, products for face and body care, decorative cosmetics, perfumes, etc.) and apply them to the samples that companies want to analyse.
The methodologies for sample pretreatment are adapted to the cosmetic type and the components to be analysed (use of microwave oven, ultrasound, extraction, etc.).
We use the appropriate instrumental techniques for each case: liquid chromatography with UV detection, gas chromatography with FID detector and/or mass detector, automated spectroscopic methods, etc.
The methods developed will follow as far as possible the trends of "Green Chemistry", and in particular those of "Green Analytical Chemistry", as their use is innocuous to the operator and the environment.
As an example, some of the studies carried out are:
- Determination of the exact concentration of the ingredients in finished cosmetic products and/or raw materials.
- Determination of the in vitro SPF of finished cosmetic products.
- Study of the possible chemical changes of cosmetic ingredients during the manufacturing process and/or in the finished product due to the influence of different factors (time, temperature, air, light, presence of other ingredients, packaging, etc.).
- Estimation of the levels of percutaneous absorption of the ingredients contained in cosmetic products.

For conventional jobs, the Office of Research Results Transfer of the University of Valencia (OTRI) is in charge of carrying out formalities between our group and the company.
For substantial long-term studies, there is also the possibility to apply for subventions from official bodies with the participation of the company and of our group.
