Type: Equipment
Equipment designed to perform Rota Rod experiments on rodents (rat and mouse).
The animal is placed on the rotating track of the Rota Rod and the timer is started. When the animal falls safely into its own lane, the latency time to fall (minutes and seconds) and rotational speed are automatically recorded. A removable top divider is included for rat models to prevent interference between animals running in adjacent lanes.
The Rota Rod is controlled by an advanced microprocessor that provides precise timing control and ultra-precise speed regulation. Rotation can be electronically adjusted to a constant speed (2 to 90 rpm). Alternatively, the acceleration rate can be selected at a defined time (2 to 5999 seconds, 1 second increments).
- To assess the effects of drugs, brain damage or disease on motor coordination or fatigue resistance in rodents.
