The research period of the present doctorate corresponds to the development of the doctoral thesis and the obtaining of the corresponding degree. The length of the research period shall be a maximum of three years, full-time, from the admission of the PhD student to the programme until the presentation of the doctoral thesis. Notwithstanding the foregoing, and after approval by the Academic Committee responsible for the programme, doctoral studies may be done part-time. In this case such studies may be a maximum length of five years since the admission to the programme until the presentation of the doctoral thesis. If after the elapse of three years the thesis deposit application had not been presented, the committee in charge of the programme will be able to authorise the extension of this deadline by one more year, that exceptionally could be extended by one further year, in the conditions established in the corresponding doctoral programme. In the case of part-time studies the extension may be authorised by two further years that, additionally, exceptionally, may be extended by one further year.
