The specific activities are those recommended each academic year among congresses, seminars, conferences and other academic events organised by the IUED (University Institute of Women Studies) as well as by the Chair for Feminist Economics. The attendance to other activities organised by the teachers of the programme is also recommended. These will be announced at the appropriate time through the Doctoral Studies Programme website at news section. Additionally, and following the instructions of their supervisor and their thesis director, the doctoral students will be able to attend activities of interest towards their training and completion of the doctoral thesis.

These were some of the activities carried out within the context of the doctoral programme in the last academic years and which were shared with the students seeking their participation:

  • Conference given by Chiara Magneschi (Università de Firenze) "Parir con cuidado: Entre la investigación empírica y los paradigmas teóricos", on March 31, 2025.
  • Doctoral seminar given by Rosalba Castiglione, from the University of Bristol (UK), 14 February 2024, with the title: "Coerción reproductiva y violencia de género: Investigación sobre concepciones y experiencias de mujeres en Italia e Inglaterra”. (Reproductive coercion and gender based violence: A research about the conceptions and experiences of women in Italy and England)
  • Research seminar given by Mar Juan Tortosa, postdoctoral researcher, 23 January 2024, with the title: "Desde las emociones. Investigación y difusión de la Historia y la Memoria Democrática española cono perspectiva de género desde las artes plásticas”. (From the emotions. Research and dissemination of the Spanish History and Democratic Memory as a gender perspective from the plastic arts)
  • Research seminar given by the visiting doctoral student Anna Puhakka (University of Jyväskylä, Finland) and Nina Navajas Pertegás (Universitat de València), 1 December 2022.
  • Methodological seminar given by the PhD of our programme, Pilar Domínguez Castillo, 10 May 2022.
  • Sarah Knott, Oxford University professor, gave a seminar on maternity writing and sensitivity taking her recent book “Mother: An Unconventional History” as the foundation, at the Faculty of Geography and History on 30 May 2019. 
  • Current debates about Women History, celebrating the publication of Rosario Acuña’s book, Hipatia (1850-1923) Emotion and reason, at the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Geography and History, 5 April 2019. Mary Nash, Elena Hernández Sandoica and IUED professor Ana Aguado participated in this event.
  • Panel discussionDebates actuales sobre la Historia de las Mujeres  (Current debates about Women History) on the occasion of the publication of the book Mujeres, Mujeres, Mulleres, Emakumeak. Estudio sobre la historia de las mujeres y del género, on 4 April 2019. The following IUED professors participated in the event: Ana Aguado and Luz Sanfeliu.
  • Conference given by the researcher and full time university professor on sociology Mª Ángeles Durán, “Trabajadoras de las curas: El largo camino hacia la igualdad” (Female treatment workers. The long path towards equality), 26 March 2019 at the ADEIT Conference room. University-Business Foundation.
  • Conference series “Mujer y Constitución: Un análisis sobre la propuesta de reforma constitucional desde la perspectiva feminista” (Women and Constitution: An analysis of the constitutional remodelling proposal from a feminist perspective). Four sessions (from 28 February to 28 March) organised by IUIEDE professor and secretary Ana Marrades.
  • 1st conference on Gender University Teaching and Research, 5 December 2018 at the Faculty of Law Graduate Hall. Organised by IUIEDE professor and secretary Ana Marrades.
  • “Encuentro Científico Intermedio del Comité de la FES de Sociología del Género” (Intermediate Scientific Encounter of the Gender Sociology FES Committee) - 23 and 24 March 2018 at the Universitat de València.
  • Screening of the movie/documentary UNREST, with a colloquium organised by professor Mª Jesús Bravo Sánchez, on 9 February 2018 and 6 March 2018.
