Through the attestation of equivalence at official university academic level of doctor it is officially recognised that the training passed for the obtaining of a foreign qualification is equivalent to the required for the obtaining of the academic level 4 of Doctor, in accordance with the Royal Decree 1027/2011, of 15 July establishing the Qualifications Frameworks in the European Higher Education Area in Spain.
The resolutions of the attestation of equivalence will be implemented after examining the acquired training by the applicant and taking into account the following criteria:
a. The comparison between the required academic levels to access the studies conductive for obtaining the foreign qualification and for accessing the Spanish qualification.
b. The duration of the needed training period to get the foreign qualification whose objective is the equivalence at academic level, and competencies that such training enables to acquire.
c. The comparison between the required academic levels to access the studies is conductive for obtaining the foreign qualification and for accessing the Spanish qualification.
The procedure of the attestation of equivalence starts with the application form of the interested people addressed to the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València and costs € 166,89 which is charged prior to the presentation of the application form. To make the payment, a receipt must be requested by sending an e-mail to tesis.doctorat@uv.es, attaching a copy of the identity document (DNI, NIE or passport). Proof of payment has to be sent together with the required documentation.
You must submit the following documents with your application:
a. Proof of identity and nationality of the applicants through a document issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin or by the competent Spanish authorities in terms of immigration. In the case of Spanish citizens, certified copy of the ID or passport.
b. Certified copy of the qualification whose equivalent is requested or of the certification of its issue, accompanied, if appropriate, by official translation.
c. Certified copy of the qualifications that gave them access to obtaining the qualification whose attestation of equivalence is requested, accompanied, if appropriate, by corresponding official translation.
d. Certified copy of the academic certification of the studies carried out by the applicants to obtain the doctorate degree qualification, accompanied, if appropriate, by the official translation. In it must appear the official term, in academic years, of the studies programme, the subjects taken, the class load of each one of them and the grades.
e. A copy of the doctoral thesis, including the members of the tribunal and the grade earned, with a summary between 10 and 40 pages in any of the official languages if the thesis is not written in Valencian, Spanish or English.
f. An explanatory memory of the doctoral thesis, written in Spanish or Valencian, and signed by the applicants indicating the references and publications to which they have given rise.
g. Explicit authorisation so that the Universitat de València can address, if it deems it appropriate, to the licensing competent authority of the presented documentation, to validate such documentation.
The issued documents delivered abroad must adjust to the following requirements:
a. Being official and being issued by the competent authorities, in accordance with the legal system of the appropriate country.
b. Submitting them legalised through diplomatic channels or, if applicable, through the Hague Convention. This requirement shall be waived for the documents issued by the authorities of the member States of the European Union or signatories of the European Economic Area Agreement.
The resolutions on official recognition will be handed down following a reasoned report ty the Standing Committee of the Doctoral School.
The report of the Standing Committee is mandatory and binding for the purposes provided in the regulations in terms of common administrative procedure of the Public Administrations, must give a favourable or unfavourable decision to the attestation of equivalence and must be issued within a three-month period.
The Principal of the Universitat de València, in view of the proposal made by the Standing Committee of the Doctoral School, shall decide on the submitted application for the attestation of equivalence.
The maximum period to notify the resolution of this procedure is six months running from the date when the application for attestation of equivalence was submitted in the General Registry of the Universitat de València.
