The Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València hosted last 14 May 2026 the seminar Diálogo intergeneracional de la Justicia. ¿De dónde partimos, dónde estamos y hacia dónde vamos?”, organised as part of the Justicia sostenible en estado de mudanza global (JUSOST) – CIPROM 2023-64 GVA project.

Directed by professor Dr Silvia Barona Vilar along with professor Dr Elena Martínez García, the meeting gathered different generations of specialists in Procedural Law with the objective of reflecting collectively upon the evolution of this discipline, the current challenges of the justice system, and the future perspectives in a context of social, technological and legal transformation.

The session was structured in four panel discussions. The first one, under the title “¿De dónde partimos?” had the participation of three referents of Spanish Procedural Law: Víctor Moreno Catena (Charles III University), Juan Luis Gómez Colomer (Jaume I University) and Teresa Armenta Deu (University of Girona), who provided a historical and critical vision about the evolution of the procedure and justice system.

The second discussion, focused on “Dificultades, intereses y objeto del Derecho Procesal. Enlace pasado-presente”, gathered Mercedes Llorente Sánchez-Arjona (University of Sevilla), Ágata Sanz Hermida (Univeristy of Castilla-la-Mancha), Javier Jiménez Fortea (Universitat de València) y José Antonio Colmenero Guerra (University Pablo de Olavide), who analysed the methodological and conceptual changes that this discipline is currently going through.

Subsequently, the third discussion addressed the issue “De nuevos temas a una verdadera transformación metodológica. ¿Estamos preparados?”, with interventions of Raúl Sánchez Gómez (University Pablo de Olavide), Ana Beltrán Montoliu (Jaume I University) and M José Jordán Díaz-Roncero (Universitat de València), who reflected upon new research approaches and teaching at the procedural field.

The session concluded with the discussion “¿Y ahora qué?”, led by young researchers from the Universitat de València: María García Romero, Nuria León Pérez y Clara Giordano Baza, who shared concerns and proposals about the future of procedural Law and the role of the new generations in the construction of a more open, sustainable, and connected justice system to the social reality.

The seminar provided a space of comprehension, exchange and collective reflection among different generations of litigators, supporting the importance of an academic and critical thinking dialogue to face the contemporary challenges of justice without renouncing to the value of the experience nor the need to adapt to recent times.
