Ghaleb Fansa Saleh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Aleppo (Syria) and a PhD from the Universitat de València, where he has been a faculty member since 2017. His academic work is developed within the field of Physical Geography, focusing on the technical analysis of territorial dynamics and the behavior of water systems in the Mediterranean region. Currently, his research focuses on the study of traditional water harvesting and management systems in arid and semi-arid environments, analyzing their functionality and resilience as climate adaptation models. This line of research is complemented by his work in applied hydrology and flood risk management, centered on the analysis of runoff processes and intense rainfall events in Mediterranean basins. Through the use of spatial analysis tools, his research examines the interaction between land-use changes and surface water response, linking the functioning of historical hydraulic infrastructures with the physical reality of the current territory. |

I have a PhD in Environmental Politics (Keele University). In 2006 a European Union Marie Curie Early Career Fellowship brought me to the UK, to Keele University's Research Institute for Law, Politics and Justice, where I began my studies in green political thought. At Keele, I completed my PhD in 2011 with a thesis entitled "Promoting eoclogical citizenship: the state, civil society and the green public sphere", supervised by Andrew Dobson. Then I was a researcher at the Inter-university Institute for Local Development under the VALi+d Programme for Postdoctoral Researchers. Afterwards, I worked in The Netherlands, where I taught in the MA in Philosophy at Radboud University Nijmegen, and in South Corea, as assistant professor in the Dual Master's Degree from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the United Nations University for Peace. In 2015 I moved back to Valencia to join the Geography Department. I have been a visiting research fellow at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, Universidad nacional de La Plata, at the School of Management, radboud University Nijmegen, at the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography, West University of Timisoara and at the School of Social, Political and Global Studies, Keele University. My teaching and research interests have focused on the intersection between green political theory and human geography. My recent reaserch deals with environmental conflicts, the relationship between citizenship and climate change and the analysis of policies and social practices with an impact on the agro-food system of l'Horta de Valencia landscape. In March 2020 I became the Director of the University of Valencia's International Centre of Gandia I am a member of the research-action group Recartografias and of the Inter-University Institute for Local Development A selection of my publications can be found at: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Carme_Melo |
