Biography

[ Automatic translation ]

Dr. EVA MARÍA GONZÁLEZ-SOLER graduated in Physiotherapy in 2013, received the Master in Basic and Applied Neurosciences in 2014 and obtained a Doctorate (Ph. .D.) cum laude in Neurosciences in 2017, all from the University of Valencia (Spain). Since Dr. González-Soler began her Master's Thesis, she has been part of the GESADA laboratory (Study Group on the Anatomical Substrate of Pain and Analgesia) of the University of Valencia (GIUV2018-420 Research Group).

RESEARCH/ At the beginning of her career as a researcher, she directed her interest towards research in chronic pain, taking into account its comorbidities, such as state disorders mood, sleep or cognitive. During this time, GESADA focused on the reserpine-induced myalgia model (RIM), which is, to date, the most validated animal model of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). Proof of this is found in his thesis work, titled “Evaluation of the effect of duloxetine and pregabalin in a model of fibromyalgia induced by reserpine in a rat.” The results of this work were part of several articles, such as “Depressive-like symptoms in a reserpine-induced model of fibromyalgia in rats” and “A standardization of the Novelty-Suppressed Feeding Test protocol in rats”, articles published in prestigious journals. , which also led GESADA to receive an emerging project from the Generalitat Valenciana, Conselleria d'Eduació, Investigació, Cultura I Esport (GV/2018/049).  In her postdoctoral stage, Dr. González-Soler has combined basic research with clinical work and teaching work as an associate professor; and more recently, as assistant professor and doctoral assistant professor, in the Department of Anatomy and EmbryologyHuman. Likewise, he continues to work on chronic pain, seeking to delve deeper into aspects related to its comorbidities and treatments. Proof of this is the scientific contribution titled "Chronic Pregabalin Treatment Ameliorates Pain, but not Depressed-Like Behaviors, in a Reserpine-Induced Myalgia Model in Rats." GESADA's collaboration with colleagues in the field of basic research has led these research teams to make important scientific contributions, such as "Hippocampal oscillatory dynamics and sleep atonia are altered in an animal model of fibromyalgia: Implications in the search for biomarkers" or "Population Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Analysis of a Reserpine-Induced Myalgia Model in Rats." All the work and collaborations led Dr. González-Soler to lead as I.P. the emerging project CIGE/2022/148, subsidized by the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana.  Currently, research in the department and deep learning of human dissection techniques have led her to study anatomical variations that could have surgical repercussions. Along these same lines, work with ex vivo human specimens has led her to collaborate with various researchers committed to improving surgical techniques, becoming part of the TED2021-132131B-I00 project "Ultrasound image simulator from images of real sections of the human body focused on the musculoskeletal system", from the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research, financed by the European Union.

TEACHING/ Dr. González-Soler also has a strong commitment to teaching, which has allowed her to work on more than 10 research projects.teaching innovation, as well as being part of the organizing committee of the last two days of teaching innovation of the faculty of medicine and dentistry of the University of Valencia. In addition to anatomical teaching in the degrees of medicine, physiotherapy, nursing and podiatry (among others), Dr. González-Soler is a professor in the master's degree in ultrasound anatomy applied to interventionism in regional anesthesia and pain, and in the official master's degrees in biomedical research and basic and applied neurosciences, all of them from the University of Valencia.

TRANSFER / Dr. González-Soler was also part of the organizing committee of the “Gifts in Neuroscience” conference, a project that continued from 2018 to 2021 and which promoted and exposed the work of women's groups in the field of neuroscience, and which had the support of various official organizations. As part of teaching innovation projects, Dr. González-Soler is also part of the "Physioanatomists" project, on Instagram, which aims to disseminate anatomical knowledge to the university student community and beyond, putting students from different backgrounds in contact. careers in health sciences, professionals and researchers.

Biography

Graduate in Biological Sciences (2010) and MSc in Basic and Applied Neurosciences (2011) from the University of València. PhD in Neuroscience (2017, Cum Laude, International Mention) from the same institution, focused on systems neuroscience and biological data analysis, under the supervision of Vicent Teruel-Martí and Ana Cervera-Ferri (University of València).
During my doctoral training, I held two competitive research contracts. In 2015, I developed an analytical system to improve electrode implantation accuracy during Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgeries for Parkinson’s disease, in the laboratory of Juan Guerrero (University of València). This work resulted in a registered software/patent (DBScan; NQ Software Register No. 164431). Between 2015 and 2016, I worked in the laboratory of Enrique Lanuza (University of València) investigating the role of vomeronasal amygdaloid signal coding in social behaviors, which resulted in a peer-reviewed publication (Pardo-Bellver et al., 2017).
In 2018, I began my postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Balázs Hangya at the Institute of Experimental Medicine (Hungary). In 2019, I was awarded a competitive Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by Generalitat Valenciana and the European Social Fund to develop a joint research project between the laboratories of Vicent Teruel-Martí (University of València) and Balázs Hangya (Institute of Experimental Medicine). In 2022, I obtained a María Zambrano Fellowship (Call 2021) for the attraction of international talent, which allowed me to continue my research as a Distinguished Researcher at the University of València.
My research focuses on the study of the basal forebrain cholinergic system in normal and pathological aging, using transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. During my postdoctoral period, I have supervised undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students,
providing both technical and theoretical training. Since completing my PhD, I have actively participated in national and international scientific meetings, presenting my research in more than forty communications (oral presentations and posters).
Since 2024, I hold a position as Assistant Professor (Ayudante Doctor) in the Department of Anatomy at the University of València
