Labora and the University of Valencia sign an agreement to study the situation of people who work on digital platforms

The Regional Secretary for Employment and the Rector of the University of Valencia have signed the agreement. The objective is to increase knowledge about this group that results in the improvement of public policies and private actions

The Regional Secretary for Employment, Enric Nomdedéu, and the Rector of the University of Valencia, Mª Vicenta Mestre, have signed the collaboration agreement between LABORA (Valencian Employment and Training Service) and the University of Valencia. The cooperation between both entities aims to open a line of research that deepens the knowledge of the reality of the personnel who work on digital platforms in the Valencian Community. This project is endowed with 55,000 euros.

LABORA is the autonomous body of the Generalitat competent to promote, develop and execute the Generalitat's policy on the creation and quality of employment. The collaborative alliance with entities that can help in the investigation of new employment models that escape the current regulatory structures is therefore convenient.

Nomdedéu has affirmed that, with this agreement, it will be possible "to offer citizens, companies, different institutions, social agents and entities, both public and private, the necessary information so that they have a greater knowledge of the operation of these new types of labor relations ".

According to the person in charge of Employment, this greater knowledge will result in the improvement of public policies and private actions for this group, currently increasing and still unknown.

The rector of the University of Valencia, Mª Vicenta Mestre has highlighted the importance of research in a context of transformation of economic structures in order to know the labor reality and also serve as a basis for the development of public policies.

Professor José María Peiró, Professor of Social Psychology and Adrián Todolí, Director of the Chair of Collaborative Economy and Digital Transformation at the University of Valencia will lead the research that aims to improve the available knowledge about the real situation of workers on platforms in the Valencian Community to be able to set policies that improve their situation.

Adrián Todolí has ​​pointed out that "digitization is rapidly changing the way we work, particularly with the extension of telework derived from the pandemic. This study will allow us to know what effects Covidien-19 has had on working on platforms and what the conditions are. labor of those who work in this type of company "
