Autonomic Championship of University Sports (CADU) Cross country running

The Autonomic Championsip of cross country running takes place in the facilities of the university campus of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón

The delegation of the Universitat attends to the autonomic appointment with 35 athletes with the objective of revalidating the championship title they posses from the past season.

For Rubén Picazo, head coach of the Universitat’s team, it is a “difficult objective since the athletes of the opponent universities have demonstrated their high level during this season start”.

To be able to get it, the athletes from the different universities will compete in female and male categories. The starting signal will be given by the girls with the female test (6 km) that will start at 12:00 h. and will continue with the male test (8 km) at 12:45 h.

In female category, the team of the Universitat comes to the appointment with a renewed members respect to the prior seasons, “the most part of the athletes that were very important the past season have finished their studies at the Universitat, but have been replaced by others that are also as good”, said Picazo. Some examples are Andrea Abad, Lidia Hernández and Nadia Aguilar, first, second and third respectively in the Recto Trophy, apart from having other athletes of high level such as Andrea Salvador, Neus Quiñonero and Soraya Camanera, among others.

In male category, Picazo has a team with many familiar faces, as is the case of the autonomic champion of the past year, Alberto López, and of Nacho Giménez, who got the bronze; as well as an ensemble of athletes of a high level among which we can find Albert Sangil, Iván Muñoz or Fran de la Insua, who was second in the Rector Trophy that took place on November after Nacho Giménez.

Regarding the Championship, the head coach of the Universitat is competitive: “CADU is always a test with a very high level, the other universities always present very competitive teams and I’m sure this year will try to make it very hard for us to win titles. Despite this, the team will fight for winning the top places of the podium, as it occurred last season.”

Besides, CADU is the last scoring test for the athletes before the great national appointment, the Spain University Championship, which will take place on 21 February in Burgos.

The Physical Education and Sports Service will cover the events live and follow up the teams throughout the official social networks (Twitter: @sefuv and www.facebook.com/SEFUV) in which it will inform all its followers on the results of each and every encounter.
