The goals of the Chair for Citizen Protection-Local Police of Valencia (PROTECPOL) are the following:

• To define public security policies through the rigorous analysis, the development of statistical analysis about incidents and the state concern about the opinion related to security the way citizens perceive it.
• To generate as much technic information as opinion information is. This is needed to adjust public services to actual citizen requests.
• To learn about evolution in fundamental parameters of security ─ threatening and social conflicts. To redefine their goals and to constantly improve the Management. To help security responsibles make decisions.
• To design a Running Plan which gathers at least the following sequential sections: collection of basic information, management and sadistic treatment of information, redaction of situational analysis reports and programmes of scientific dissemination through territorial campaigns.
