
We welcome Juan Pecourt and Víctor Soler, teaching and research staff from the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, who have also recently joined the IUCIE. We continue to grow as an Institute thanks to their contributions.
He holds a PhD in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Cambridge. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Valencia. He is the author of the book "Los intelectuales y la transición política" (Intellectuals and the Political Transition, CIS, 2008) and co-author of the books "Los intelectuales nunca mueren" (Intellectuals Never Die, RBA, 2013), with Josep Picó, and "La sociología de la cultura en la era digital" (Sociology of Culture in the Digital Age, PUV, 2012), with Joaquim Rius-Ulldemolins. He has also published several articles in national and international specialized journals focusing on the sociology of intellectuals, the sociology of culture and mass media, and issues related to the emerging digital culture.
He holds a Diploma in Social Work and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Valencia, cum laude and international honors. He specializes in qualitative research and the analysis of processes of academic success and failure. He has extensive teaching experience in the Teaching Degrees and the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching, both at the University of Valencia and Florida Universitaria. His research activity includes a training stay at the Paulo Freire Institute at UCLA, sponsored by the distinguished professor Carlos Alberto Torres, and participation in numerous national and international projects and conferences. His work has focused on school well-being, educational inequality, school trajectories and alternative methodologies, as well as the prevention of gender-based violence and the defense of children's rights. He is currently a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at UV.
