We welcome a new guest researcher to the new academic year, who will be with us until July.

Alessandro Pinzani is a professor of ethics and political philosophy at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis (Brazil). He is an affiliated professor at the Institute of Law, Politics, and Development at the Scuola Superiore San'Anna, Pisa (Italy), and since 2006 a research associate at CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of Brazil). He earned his doctorate and habilitation in Philosophy from the University of Tübingen. He has been a visiting professor and researcher at several Brazilian and European universities. He has participated in numerous international research projects.

He writes on social philosophy, social suffering, poverty, and Critical Theory. Among his books: Jürgen Habermas (München: Beck, 2007), An dan Wurzeln moderner Demokratie (Berlin: Akademie, 2009), Money, Autonomy, and Citizenship (with W.Leão Riego, Dordrecht: Springer, 2018) and Vidas roubadas (with W. Leão Riego, São Paulo: Unesp, 2025).
