The University of Valencia is participating in the Pompeii Insula VII, archaeological project, led by Dr. Christoph Baier (Austrian Archaeological Institute), Dr. Horacio González (UCM), and Dr. Albert Ribera (IAC).

The project's main objective is to conduct an analysis of the urban development and the economic and social aspects of a unique area of Pompeii, Insula VII, during the period from the city's beginnings to the establishment of the Roman colony in 80 BC. This multidisciplinary project utilizes new technologies for surveying, documenting architectural spaces, and conducting archaeometric analyses of ceramics, archaeobotanical remains, and faunal remains, among other things. Specifically, Dr. Elena Grau Almero, Professor of Prehistory at the University of Valencia, collaborated during the week of June 1-7 in the archaeobotanical sampling of the sediments extracted from the excavation, which will be analyzed later to learn about the plants used by the inhabitants of Pompeii.
