Like any research field, Audiovisual Communication also counts with a great offer of congresses and sessions in our country which are aimed at disseminating new contents and formats, and analyzing and debating on the status quo within the Spanish audiovisual sector. Today, we are bringing five proposals.

In Madrid, the ESNE (University School for Design and Innovation), together with the scientific magazine on communication and emerging technology, Icono 14, organises the  International congress of Audiovisual Researchers: Applied Digital Contents and Technologies The programme deals with three main topics: audiovisual, digital contents and channels/technologies. All agents involved in the audiovisual sector participate on them, from the creators to the audience representatives.

On the other hand, the XESCOM (International Research Network for Communication Management) organizes, for the first time, the Simposio Internacional sobre Gestión de la Comunicación  (International symposium on Communication Management), which will take place on 27 and 28 November at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication within the University of Vigo (Pontevedra Campus). The programme is very extensive and comprises 10 thematic axis, among which we could highlight media industry and economy, regulation and self-regulation policies to sustain quality, scientific social networks and neurocommunication.

CONTD Sessions

Since 2007, The Universitat de València and the Official Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Contents and Formats organize every year theJornadas CONTD de Contenidos para la Televisión Digital  (CONTD in Contents for Digital Television) which, as stated in their website, are aimed at “building dialogue bridges among all the agents implied in the process: industry, university and administration”.

During the sessions, the guest experts will reflect on the new communication model by the Network and how the audiovisual is being adapted to this paradigm. The sessions will be broadcasted in streaming and are open to the general public, although they are specially addressed to students enrolled in under and post graduate degrees related to communication, professionals within the audiovisual sector as well as researchers and experts on audiovisual media.

Along with the CONTD Sessions, the TVMorfosis meeting comes to Europe for the first time.  It is a debate forum which creates links between Europe and Ibero-America.

Last 12 and 13 November, the University of Malaga organized the III Congreso Nacional de Metodología de la Investigación en Comunicación (Third National Congress on Methodology for Communication Research). During the congress, the  MapCom project presented a symposium entitled La investigación en España sobre prácticas sociales en comunicación: proyectos, grupos, líneas, objetos de estudio y método. (Research in Spain on social practices in communication: projects, groups, lines, study objects and methods).

The MapCom Project unites four teams divided up by geographic field which coordinate research activities along 49 Spanish universities holding Communication studies.

The Andalusian benchmark

Without leaving this autonomous community, professional sessions by the Fundación Audiovisual de Andalucía (Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia) are a settled benchmark at a national level.  Edition number 14 centered around the possibilities of the Andalusian audiovisual field as a strategic sector and a generator of culture and employment.  They have been organised for over 10 years and, in such time, they have had important enterprises such as RTVE, Atresmedia, YOMVI, Canal +, Mediaset, Filmin, Kantar Media and Nielsen as guests in their professional debate forums.
