
Next Saturday 4 February, Spanish cinema dresses up to celebrate the edition number 31 of the Goya Awards in which participated more than 150 films. Do you want to know the nominees and which films are the favourites? Let us tell you about it.

Only three days remain to know which films will win the next Goya Awards, whose ceremony will be hosted by the comedian Dani Rovira one more year. A total of 155 films opted to the awards of this edition number 31, along with 16 Iberoamerican, 58 European features and 33 short films but only five of them have arrived to the final nomination to be recognised as the best film.

Although the appointment to know the names of the winners will be next Saturday, the review has already revealed which two films are proposed to succeed in the Spanish cinema gala. A Monster Calls, by J. A. Bayona; and Julieta, the last Almodóvar’s feature.
- A Monster Calls: This feature film of drama genre has 12 nominations to win the Goya Awards and has received eight Gaudí Awards including the best film in non-Catalan language. The film has Connor (Lewis MacDougall) as a main character, a 12 years old teenager who tries to overcome his fears with the help of a monster (Liam Neeson) after his parents separation while his mum (Felicity Jones) is suffering from cancer.
- Julieta:The Almodóvar’s film, a psychological drama, has 7 nominations for the Goya Awads. Set the scene in the 80s starts with Julieta’s project of leaving Madrid to live in Portugal. The initiative is frustrated when incidentally she encounters Bea, an old friend of her daughter Antía, from whom she has long been estranged. After the encounter with Bea, Julieta discovers that her daughter has already three children and decides to cancel her travel and starts writing about her daughter.

- The Man with Thousand Faces: A thriller by Alberto Rodríguez which has eleven nominations to the awards. Tells the story of Francisco Paesa (Eduard Fernández), the former secret agent of the Government, responsible of the biggest operation against ETA. Paesa will have to deal with an extortion case and will flee the country.
- May God forgive you: By Rodrigo Sorogoyen. A police thriller set during the 15-M in Madrid in which the inspectors Alfaro (Roberto Álamo) and Velarde (Antonio de la Torre) will work to find a serial killer.
- The Fury Of A Patient Man:This thriller by Raúl Arévalo takes place in Madrid, in August 2007 when Curro enters prison for holding up a jewellery. Eight years after, he returns to be free and tries to rebuild his life with his girlfriend but he will live an unexpected situation.
