Graduates of this master’s program gain specialized and advanced training in environmental contamination and ecotoxicology, acquiring skills and competencies to assess and evaluate contamination processes and risks within various ecosphere components (such as the pedosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere). Graduates in this master’s program develop expertise in ecotoxicology, enabling them to evaluate the effects, distribution, and behavior of chemical substances in the environment, assess risks, and predict consequences for ecosystems, including humans; apply biomarkers and bioindicators; and implement environmental bioremediation technologies. Additionally, they gain knowledge of regulations, methodologies, and legislation related to environmental contamination and ecotoxicology. The diverse knowledge areas involved in this Master’s program provide students with an interdisciplinary perspective on the subject matter.

Graduates of this program can enter the following sectors:

  1. Public sector: Government agencies, administration technicians specializing in environmental issues (Municipalities, Regional Governments, Ministries), European Regulatory Agencies (ECHA, EFSA, JRCs, among others).
  2. Private sector: Industry (pharmaceutical, petroleum, etc.), agrifood, biotechnology companies, engineering and mining firms; environmental consultants; technology centers and institutes; environmental analysis laboratory technicians, among others.
