5 Reasons to Become an International Business Student

Reasons iMBA

MBA’s are some of the most highly rated and sough-after degrees in the world – but often many of these graduates have little to set them apart. So what can the International Master’s Degree in Business Administration offer that other business schools can’t?

1. What’s greater than one degree? Why, two degrees!

The iMBA is three semesters long – that is, 90 credits, or 13 to 14 months. That’s a lot of business knowledge acquired, and your CV will prove it. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all seven International Business School Alliance partners, our graduates will finish the programme with two degrees from two different institutions: one for the core business modules you’ll learn in the first semester, and another depending on your specialisation (upon finishing your master’s thesis and all courses from both semesters).

2. Personalise your iMBA

Every business student has his own needs, interests, goals, etc. That’s why the iMBA programme was planned as open-ended as possible. All seven participating universities share approximately the same core modules for the first semester; from that point on, it’s all up to the student.

Is marketing your forte? Then choose Valencia and our International Marketing module for your specialisation and Master’s Thesis. Thinking more of a logistics-orientated future? Hochuschule Bremen offers an International Logistics & Supply Chain Management Degree, right near one of the most influential ports in Europe. It’s all up to you. Just remember: you have to choose a different university for your core modules and specialisation.

What better way to become a culturally-aware, globally-minded 'change maker' than living and learning in a unique international environment?

3. Live and learn in another country

Cross-cultural professional awareness is a priceless attribute. Knowing the ins and outs of a sector in one’s own country is obviously recommendable if not necessary, but being able to break away from geographical and/or ideological barriers and bring forward fresh ideas will set you apart from any other MBA or Business graduate.

The iMBA does this and more, granting you access to institutions as diverse as the Unirazak in Malaysia (and their specialization in Global Islamic Finance) or the Novancia Business School at the heart of Paris. Our graduates aren’t just MBAs, they are culturally-proficient, ethically trained and – perhaps most importantly – globally-aware potential change makers.

4. Build a global network

The iMBA programme hands you all the tools needed to excel in your business area of choice, but we haven’t mentioned one crucial element – contacts. Luckily, the nature of the iMBA puts you automatically in a position to succeed.

We’ve mentioned learning in foreign countries and from international experts, but your fellow students will also come from a wide array of backgrounds. And since the iMBA itself is specifically designed to put our alumni in a preferential position as far as employment goes, the networking possibilities are endless. We keep close ties with businesses and institutions worldwide – so why not thrive in a global environment?

5. Where better than Valencia?

At the Universitat de València we offer a four-module International Marketing specialization (Integrated Marketing Communications, International Distribution and Logistics, Service Marketing and Management, & International Marketing Research) with some of the most proficient business experts in Europe. We also regularly accommodate international researchers and collaborate with other universities (our professor Manuel Guillén is currently representing the UV at Harvard University). Global rankings regularly place the UV amongst the best in Spain, particularly in the field of Business and Commerce.

Then there’s the city of Valencia itself – a bustling city at the heart of all Mediterranean trade, with one of the highest rates of international students per capita in Europe. Outside of the well-known Spanish features of sunny weather and paella, it’s also a young technological and research market ready to blossom.

So why wait? Applications at all seven partner universities are open, so head over to the IBSA website and become an iMBA student. Got any questions? Check out our Application Step-by-Step Guide.
