Benjamin Meisnitzer is a professor of Ibero-Roman Linguistics at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, where he holds the chair of Ibero-Roman Linguistics since 2014 He holds a degree in Portuguese, Spanish and German Philology by the University of Munich, where he also studied postgraduate studies on Applied Linguistics and Linguistic Theory, obtaining the doctorate in 2012 with a thesis on aspectuality and temporality in fictional narrative texts.
His fields of study encompass temporal semantics, modality, variational linguistics, discursive traditions and the acquisition of first and second languages.
Benjamin Meisnitzer is a professor of Ibero-Roman Linguistics at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz''.
He has been a visiting professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil) and the University of Vienna (Austria). During the winter semester 2016/2017, he held the chair of Portuguese and Spanish Linguistics in the last one on an interim basis. Since 2016 he is vice-president of the Associació Germano-Catalana/Deutsch-Katalanische Gesellschaft.
