Biography
 

Ana R. Calero Valera is Full Professor of German Philology at the University of Valencia. She presented her doctoral thesis "Las obras de Heiner Müller en torno a Shakespeare: reescritura paródica" in 2001, and she obtained the extraordinary doctorate award in 2004. Since 2005, she has been a member of several research projects on contemporary and postdramatic theater in German language. Since 2017, she is a member of the research team REPERCRI: https://repercrirg.com/es/equipo-de-investigacion/ana-rosa-calero-valera/. She undertook research visits to German and American universities (Johannes Gutenberg Universität-Mainz, Humboldt Universität-Berlin, Albert Ludwigs Universität-Freiburg, University of Virginia-Charlottesville).

Along with Carmen Plaza Blázquez she has co-authored translations into Spanish, such as Una herencia peligrosa (Gefährliche Verwandtschaft) by Zafer Şenocak (Editorial Pre-Textos, 2009). Her research interests lie in literature in German language of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a specialisation in: The First World War and the interwar period, the literature of (post-)migration and refugees, studies on post-memory and contemporary theater.

Biography
 

Marcos Centeno is specialised in film and media and Japanese studies, particularly interested in documentary film, memory, transnationality, gender, militant cinema and the representation of minorities mainly the Ainu people, for which he uses contributions from visual anthropology and ethnographic studies. He is currently reserach associate at the Nissan Insitute for Japanese Studies, Univesity of Oxford (Wolfson College). Previously, Centeno worked as lecturer for Birkbeck, University of London, where he acted as the BA  Japanese Studies director. Before that he had been lecturer for the Department of Japan and Korea at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London where he coordinated the MA Global Cinemas and the Transcultural and since then, he has been associate researchers at SOAS Japan Research Centre. Centeno has led projects funded by British, Japanese, North American and Spanish institutions. He is PI for TRAMEVIC: Transnational War-time Memories in East Asian Visual Culture funded by Generalitat Valenciana, coordiantor of TRADIASIA (Transculturality and Diversity in East Asia), and has received grants for projects such asTsuchimoto Noriaki's documentary school, by the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale University, Representations of the Ainu people in the UK, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Japanese Documentary Filmmaker Haneda Sumiko with colleagues from the UK and funded by institutions such as Sasakawa Foundation, the Japan Foundation, etc. and Japanese Transnational Cinema, funded by the Sasakawa and Daiwa foundations, Waseda University and Monbusho (Ministry of Education of Japan). After studying Ainu language and culture in Japan, his research on the visual representation of the Ainu people was awarded by the former Kokoro journal for Japanese Studies, and his full-length documentary, Ainu. Pathways to Memory (2014), directed after having worked as a television director, was translated into several languages and received several prize from international film festivals and other institutions (such as the National Museum of Anthropology, CSIC and the Government of the Basque Country). During his doctoral studies, Centeno was a research fellow at the University of Valencia and an associate researcher at the International Institute for Education and Research in Theater and Film Arts at Waseda University, Tokyo,  with periods in France (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3) and Germany (Goethe Universität Frankfurt).

Other activities

Among his professional activities, Centeno is currently a board member for the AEJE (Asociacion de Estudios Japoneses en España), and external examiner for the Japanese Studies degree programmes at Oxford Brookes University (2021-2025), editorial board member for Mirai. Revista Estudios Japoneses, has been jury member for ICAS/SEPHIS prize for the best books on Asian Studies written in Spanish and Portuguese, Ivan Morris Memorial Prize on Japanese Studies (awarded by the British Association for Japanese Studies), DAAD. German Academic Exchange Service (research fellowship applications),  convenor for EAJS (the European Association for Japanese Studies) Visual Arts section (2019-2023), board member for BIMI (Birkbeck Institute of the Moving Image), the Japan Research Center, SOAS. On culture, memory and representation in museums, Centeno has coordinated the Memorial Sites research seminar at Birkbeck Memorial Sites. Acts of Remember through Media and Visual Culture (2022/2023) and is a member of the Repercri group and on transnational cultural circulation he works with Gregal group at the UAB. Also, Centeno has served as a guest lecturer for Summer Schools at Pittsburgh University,  Ochanomizu University, guest lecturer for the Centre for Japanese Studies at Nanzan University, Nagoya (1st semester 2021/22), and invited to deliver around 60 talks at universities from Latin America, Europe and Japan. Centeno completed undergraduate studies at the University of Valencia (School´s Extraordinary Award) and Japan (Waseda University scholarship).

Marcos Centeno welcomes students interested in research in the fields related to Japanese/Asian Cinemas, ethnographic visual culture, documentary films, transculturality, diversity, representation of minorities, and war memory.

Biography
 

Maria-Josep Cuenca is a Professor of Catalan Linguistics at the University of Valencia (Spain) and member of the  Institut Interuniversitari de Filologia Valenciana and of the  Catalan Language Academy (Institut d’Estudis Catalans). Her research focusses on text grammar and discourse analysis, especially, deixis, compound sentences, connectives, discourse markers and interjections, among other subjects related to the interface between syntax and discourse. She is also interested in similes and metaphor in the general framework of Cognitive Linguistics. She has been visiting scholar in different universities, such as Università degli Studi di Venezia University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University and University of Cambridge.

Cuenca is a member of the spin-off Tecnolingüística, S.L., where she is in charge of the coordination of the area of translation, and is also a translator mainly from English and Italian to Catalan and Spanish. Cuenca has been the director of the project Gramàtica Essencial de la Llengua Catalana at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, which resulted in two grammars: Gramàtica Essencial de la Llengua Catalana (2018, geiec.iec.cat) and Gramàtica Bàsica i d’Ús de la Llengua Catalana (2019).

Cuenca was Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and PhD Studies between 2002 and 2007.

In 2020, she was awarded with the distinction “Creu de Sant Jordi” from the Generalitat de Catalunya for her contributions to the knowledge and dissemination of the grammar of Catalan.

Biography
 

Ingrid García Wistädt holds a degree in German Philology (2000) and English Philology (1998), a diploma in Social Work (1993) and a PhD in Philology (2005) from the Universitat de València. Currently, she is Associate Professor of German Philology, attached to the Department of English and German Philology at the UV. She has participated in numerous research projects and is a member of the permanent research group RIALE (https://www.uv.es/riale) of the UV (GIUV2013-078), whose main activity is to lay the foundations for a comprehensive investigation of intercultural relations between Spain and German-speaking countries from the Middle Ages to the present day. His main fields of research at present, in addition to those related to the subject of his doctoral thesis (From the Minnesänger to the Romantic artist. Ludwig Tieck's romanticism through the figure of the musician and his literary configuration), are precisely in the field of intercultural relations between Germany and Spain, especially the literature of German travellers in Spain in the 19th century. In the field of teaching, he teaches German literature from its beginnings up to the 19th century. She has also been involved in many management tasks, as well as being a member of the University Senate and the Faculty Board and participating in various academic committees. Between 2006-2018 she was Secretary of the Department of English and German Philology and since 2019 she is Director of the Master's Degree in Research in Languages and Literatures.

Professor at the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia, member of the Institut Interuniversitari de Filologia Valenciana, corresponding member of the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona and associate researcher at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur les Mondes Ibéro -Américains Contemporains (CRIMIC, Sorbonne University). She is the director of Càtedra Joan Fuster.
As a researcher, she has specialized in contemporary Catalan literature and, more specifically, in narrative and essays. His main lines of research are fantastic literature, brevity, irony and hypertextuality. He has edited the poetry of Miquel Duran de València and several miscellaneous volumes, such as L'empremta del mite en la literatura del primer terç del segle XX or Realisme i compromís en la narrativa de la postguerra europea, among others; has published the books: Pere Calders, tòpics i subversions de la tradició fantàstica, Anotacions al marge. Els aforismes de Joan Fuster and, in collaboration with F. Ardolino, G. López-Pampló and P. Rosselló, Escriure és reescriure. Anàlisis i testimonis en la literatura actual, in addition to dozens of articles and book chapters on authors such as Carme Riera, Jesús Moncada, Mercè Rodoreda, Quim Monzó, Víctor Català or Jordi Sarsanedas, among others. Principal researcher of a research group that brings together researchers from different universities and is currently developing a project on hypertextuality in contemporary Catalan literature.

Biography
 

Isabel Gutiérrez Koester studied German and English Philology at the Universitat de València and presented her doctoral thesis on female water myths in German literature in 2000. She was awarded both the Extraordinary Degree and Doctorate Prizes. Since 2002 she has been a lecturer in German Philology at the Departament de Filologia Anglesa i Alemanya of the Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació and concentrates her teaching mainly in the field of twentieth-century German literature and the audiovisual arts.

Her most recent research focuses on Spanish-German intercultural relations, developed in the framework of several funded research projects related to German travellers in Spain, images, stereotypes and cultural topographies. These include "German Travellers in Spain. Documentation and selection of texts" (2007-2010), "Spanish images and stereotypes in German travel books: historical evolution between intercultural reality and fiction" (2011-2013), "Journeys and places. Cultural topographies of German travellers in Spain" (2013-2016), "Imagological evolution of the Valencian Levant in the German travel literature" (2018-2019) and "The female vision of Spain: accounts of German-speaking female travellers in the 19th and 20th centuries" (2020-2021). The results of this research are reflected in a series of contributions to conferences and publications mentioned in the curriculum vitae.

Since 2013 she has been Erasmus Coordinator of the Degree in Modern Languages and their Literatures and tutor in the ENTREIGUALS programme and has held management and administrative functions in the Economic Commission, the Selection Committee, the Permanent Board of the Department, the Faculty Board, as coordinator and also secretary of the Area and Teaching Unit and as coordinator of the Educational Innovation Plan, among others.

Ana Belén Llopis Cardona is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish Philology and a member of the research group. Her research focuses on linguistic, sociocultural, and historical pragmatics.

She is the author of a monograph Aproximación funcional a los marcadores discursivos. Análisis y propuesta lexicográfica (2014), published by Peter Lang, as well as several book chapters and articles in specialised journals (e.g. Revista Española de Filología, Rilce, Journal of Pragmatics, Onomázein, Communication & Society, Verba, Journal of Historical Pragmatics, Languages). Recently, she has edited a monograph Culturas juveniles, contracultura y procesos de difusión en el español coloquial in the journal Spanish in Context.

She has been part of the research team for competitive regional and national projects. Additionally, she has served as the principal investigator for the project “Difusión del cambio lingüístico en el español coloquial durante los últimos cincuenta años” (GV/2020/157). In 2023, she was awarded Beca Leonardo a Investigadores y Creadores Culturales de la Fundación BBVA.

Gonçal López-Pampló (Valencia, 1982) has a degree in Catalan Studies (UV) and English Studies (UNED). He holds a Master's degree in Education and e-learning (UOC). He obtained his doctorate in 2016 with a thesis supervised by Professor Carme Gregori Soldevila, which dealt with the essay as a literary genre. Based on this work, he has published the books D'Ors a Fuster. Per una història de l'assaig en la literatura contemporània (PUV, 2017) and Primera lliçó sobre l'assaig (PAM / CMT, 2023), in addition to several contributions to collective books, academic journals and conferences. He currently has two six-year research periods.

Associate professor since 2007, between 2014 and 2022 he held the position of literary director at Edicions Bromera and Algar Editorial. From September 2022 he is exclusively dedicated to teaching, management and research as an assistant professor in the Department of Catalan Philology.

He is currently the coordinator of the 4th year of the Degree in Catalan Philology and participates in the committees responsible for communication in the Department of Catalan Philology, research seminars and the Olimpíada de Valencià. He is also a member of the Càtedra Joan Fuster and the Institut Interuniversitari de Filologia Valenciana and of the Contemporary Catalan Literature Group (GIUV2013-007). He is secretary of the journal Quaderns de Filologia. Estudis Literaris i and the book series "Folia Germà Colón" (IIFV). He is also a member of the editorial board of Revista Valenciana de Filologia.

With professor J. Àngel Cano, he coordinates the educational innovation project "Writing and oral expression in the age of IA: challenges and opportunities in the Catalan Philology area (1st phase)", within the GESOLCAT Consolidated Innovation Group.

Biography
 

Senior Lecturer at the Department of Spanish Philology of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication at the University of Valencia. She holds a BA in Hispanic Philology (UV), a BA in Anglo-Germanic Philology (UV), a BA in Portuguese Philology (UB; BA extraordinary award) and a PhD in Hispanic Philology.

As a lecturer in the areas of Portuguese Philology and Spanish Language, she has taught subjects related to historical grammar, textual analysis and the correct usage of Spanish. At present, she teaches Spanish as a foreign language, both at BA and MA levels.

She is a member of the UV Research Group HISLEDIA (History and Historiography of the Spanish Language in its Diachrony) and has participated in several state-funded projects. Her main lines of research include contrastive diachronic studies of Spanish and other languages (Portuguese and Catalan): historical pragmatics and syntax, historical phraseology, phonetics and phonology.

She has been an elected member of the Faculty Board since 2011 and of the UV Governing Council since 2013.

MARÍA ROSA ÁLVAREZ SELLERS. PhD in Philology and Degree in Hispanic Philology (Universitat de València) and Portuguese Philology (Universidad de Salamanca), she combines both specialities in her research activity.

She has published works dedicated to the Spanish theater of the Golden Ages (La tragedia española en el Siglo de Oro: La vida es sueño o el delito del nacimiento [National Essay Award "Becerro de *Bengoa"], Diputació Foral de *Alava; Análisis y evolución de la tragedia española en el Siglo de Oro: la tragedia amorosa, Kassel, Reichenberger, 3 vols.) and in Portuguese and Brazilian literature (Edition of Literatura portuguesa y literatura española: influencias y relaciones, University of Valencia; Edition of Castro by António Ferreira, Universidade da Coruña-Xunta de Galícia; João Guimarães Rosa: travesías por la ficción y la palabra, Vigo, Academia del Hispanismo), in addition to this she has participated in numerous international Conferences and collaborated in various national and foreign publications and magazines. She has published books, critical editions and around one hundred articles and book chapters. In 2019 she published two critical editions: El bruto de Babilonia, by Matos Fragoso, Moreto and Cáncer (Ed. Reichenberger) and the Entremés de El día de compadres (Ed. University of Lisbon). In 2024 she published a critical edition of La tragedia del duque de Berganza, by Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón (Ed. Reichenberger).

She has received scholarships to complete his academic training in Belgium, Italy, the United States and Portugal and has given classes and lectures at the universities of Coimbra, Lisbon, Bordeaux and Toulouse.

She is a member of the Centro de Estudos de Teatro (CET) of the Universidade de Lisboa and of the Centro de Literatura Portuguesa (CLP) of the Universidade de Coimbra, as well as of the international research groups ‘Proteo-Moretianos’, ‘Escrituras Literarias: Patrimonio y Actualidad’ and ‘Circe-Early Modern European Theatre on Screen’.

Mireia Vives Martínez holds a B.A. in English Studies (2016) and a B.A. in Modern Languages and their Literatures (2018), as well as a PhD in Languages, Literatures, Cultures, and their Applications (2022) from the Universitat de València. She works currently as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and German Philology at the same university. She is a member of the Research Group RIALE ‘’Relaciones interculturales Alemania-España‘’ (GIUV2013-078) (https://www.uv.es/riale), whose main objective is to establish the basis for a comprehensive research on intercultural relations between Spain and German-speaking countries from the Middle Ages to the present day. Her research interests include issues of female agency in German literature, a topic she has explored in her doctoral thesis (‘Unschuldig sterb ich und doch in Schuld: La culpa como tema en la obra de Theodor Fontane a partir del caso de Effi Briest’) and intercultural relations between Germany and Spain based on the accounts of nineteenth-century German and English women travellers to Spain.
