Sports training helps decrease age-related brain loss
3 april 2019
A collaborative research between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the INCLIVA sanitary research institute and the University of Barcelona in which Mª Carmen Gómez Cabrera and José Viña (University of Valencia) participate shows that physical exercise can mitigate some age and aging-related brain losses. The study has been published in the journal Scientific Reports.

p38γ and p38δ: From Spectators to Key Physiological Players
15 may 2017
p38γ and p38δ have been for years two large unknowns who have only recently begun to catch the attention of scientists. Researchers at the National Centre for Biotechnology of the CSIC (CNB-CSIC) investigate these proteins and compile the latest works on them in an article published this week in the journal Trends in Biochemical Sciences. The authors highlight the role of these two unknowns in certain diseases and claim their potential in the development of new treatments.
Is it rare to suffer a rare disease?
11 january 2017
According to FEDER (Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases), “a disease is considered rare when it affects a small number of the total population, defined in Europe as less than 1 out of 2000 citizens (EC Regulation on Orphan Medicinal Products)”.
