The URAP has once again placed the Universitat de València as one of the best higher education institutions in the world

28 april 2016

This ranking was established by the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University in 2009 and is published on a yearly basis. In the 2015-2016 edition, the Universitat de València remains in the top 200 universities on a global level, rising five positions to 188th from last year’s placement (193rd).

The UV is the third highest ranked Spanish university, repeating last year’s performance. On a European level, the Universitat de València places 85th, up from 88th in 2014.

While the field-based rankings are yet to be released, similar or slightly improved results are to be expected. The UV was ranked 171st in the world in the Commerce, Management, Tourism and Services field in 2014 (3rd nationally), with the best result in Spain (top 100 worldwide) for the "Articles" indicator (a measure of current scientific productivity, which includes articles published in 2013 and indexed by Web of Science and listed by Incites.).

The other member universities of the International Business School Alliance performed this year as follows (not all universities applicable for evaluation; career-oriented institutions and schools specialising in a limited amount of fields usually place lower): University of Hertfordshire (788th); UNCW (1412th).

URAP collects data on 2,000 universities around the world, classifying them by their academic performance (quality and quantity of academic publications) according to the following six indicators: Articles, Citations, Total Documents, Article Impact Total, Citation Impact Total, and International Collaboration. As a result this ranking covers approximately 10% of all institutions of higher education in the world.

The full ranking can be read at the URAP’s website. For a full review of the Universitat de València’s placement across several different world rankings, please visit the UV’s Analysis and Planning Service (SAP) website.
