This gathering will take place on June 29 and 30 and aims to shed light on the challenges facing the management function at the present time. Through two conferences and two round tables, practical and theoretical experiences will be shared with the aim of improving the management and direction of educational organisations.

The Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences will be the venue for the 1st Conference on Management and Direction of Educational Organisations, organised by the Master's Degree in Policies, Administration and Management of Educational Organizations, the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences and the Department of Education and School Management of the Universitat de València.

The registration period begins on May 2nd and ends on June 23rd. Registration can be completed free of charge online (https://forms.gle/fuGEHS1yemBRRDhr6). At the end of the conference, a certificate of attendance will be awarded (10 hours).

The gathering will begin on Wednesday June 29th at 17 h, with the presentation of the conference by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences, Rosa Mª Bo Bonet; the Head of the Planning and Management Service of Lifelong Learning of the Conselleria de Educación, Investigación, Cultura y Deportes of the Valencian Government, Bernardette Ortolà; and the Director of the Master's Degree in Policies, Administration and Management of Educational Organizations of the Universitat de València, Mª Amparo Calatayud Salom.

Joan Teixidó Saballs, tenured professor in the Department of Pedagogy at the University of Girona, will give the inaugural lecture entitled Changing the way we look at management and the training of management teams. Where we must go from here.

Wednesday will end with a round table discussion entitled The managerial function as experienced by its protagonists: difficulties, satisfactions and challenges. It will be moderated by Professor Mª Amparo Calatayud and will be attended by: Antonio Pérez, director of CEFIRE in Xàtiva; Jesús Martinez, director of IES Andreu Sempere in Alcoy (Alicante); and Joaquina Barba, director of CEIP La Font d'en Carròs (Valencia).

Thursday June 30th will begin at 17 h. with the lecture The management and direction of educational organisations in times of uncertainty, by Joaquín Gairín, full professor of Teaching and Learning and Educational Organization at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The session will end by giving a chance to the students to have their say, through a round table in which several students of the UV Master's Degree in Policies, Administration and Management of Educational Organizations of the academic year 2021-22 will share the competences learnt about management and direction during the curricular practices of the Master's Degree.

Professor Mª Amparo Calatayud, director of the Master's Degree in Policies, Administration and Management of Educational Organizations at the UV, who will be responsible for closing the conference, explained that the aim of this meeting is to generate a forum for debate to reflect on the challenges facing the management function today. "It seems increasingly necessary to establish a management model, less focused on bureaucracy and administrative management, and more aimed at exercising a shared, participatory leadership, which acts as a cultural agent of the centre, a promoter of research and professional development of teachers. In short, a new management model on which experts in the management and direction of educational organisations will debate", said Professor Calatayud.
