After the practical classes in January, the theoretical classes were resumed with a session by Dr. María Manuela Morales Suárez-Varela, full university professor of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
Within the Module in Epidemiology and Diagnosis of Parasitic Diseases, Dra. Morales provides students with a broad overview of how to correctly interpret epidemiological results, so that they are statistically valid and can be properly disseminated.
Professor Morales started lesson 1 of this subject, which includes an updated view on epidemiology (including parasitic epidemiology and epidemiological geography) and the diagnosis of parasitic diseases, both from the aetiological side (with special emphasis on coprology) and the indirect side, referring to immunology and immunodiagnosis of parasitic diseases, as well as molecular parasitology.
