Biographical outline:

Brother Colón Domènech was born on November 30, 1928 in Castelló de la Plana. Linguist in the field of Romance Philology, and especially in Catalan and Occitan Philology or French etimology or Spanish linguistics.

Germà Colón has been associate professor at the University of Strasbourg from 1968 to 1972, and from the University of Barcelona, ​​from 1973 to 1974. Since 1963 he has been a member of the Royal Academy of Good Letters of Barcelona, ​​the Institute of Catalan Studies since 1966, and the Royal Spanish Academy since 1985.

He co-editor of the Bulletin of the Castellonense Society of Culture and member of several advisory councils such as the Fundació de Cultura Catalana, among others.

From 1976 to 1982 he was president of the International Association of Catalan Language and Literature and of the Swiss Society of Hispanic Studies from 1982 to 1985.
He was a member of the Bureau of the Société de Linguistic Romane between 1980 and 1986, and since 1987 he is vice president of the Permanent Board of History of the Spanish Language.
He was also a member of the Valencian Council of Culture of the Generalitat Valenciana.
