Robert Merle d'Aubigne (Neuilly-sur-Seine, July 23, 1900 - October 11, 1989). Professor at the University of Paris, specialty: orthopedic and reconstructive surgery.

He became a hospital surgeon in 1939 and an associate professor in 1946. In addition to doctor-captain during the Second World War, he actively participated in the Belgium campaign. Then, active in the resistance, since 141, was the head of the Interior Health service of the French Forces. After having directed throughout the occupation, he spent in 1945, at the head of the repair center of the first army. In 1984, he was appointed Professor of Orthopedic and Restorative Surgical Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, as Head of Department in Cochin. In 1960, he managed to create an assistant Traumatology Center at the Orthopedic and Restorative Clinic in Cochin. He was also Dean of the Faculty of Cochin Port-Royal.

He was a member of the Academy of Surgery of Paris, the National Academy of Medicine of France, the Academy of Sciences, the French Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (President), the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the American College of Surgeons, the British Orthopedic Association, the American Orthopedic Association, the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the German, Belgian, Brazilian and Canadian Orthopedic Societies, Spanish, Italian, Latin American, Mexican, Yugoslav, Argentine, Bulgarian and Swiss.

He was Grand Cross in the National Order of Merit of France, Officer of the Order of Leopold, Officer of the Hellenic Order of Honor, Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor, holder of the Croix de Guerre 1939-1945, decorated with the Medal of the Resistance and the Bronze Star Medal.
