Eduard Vieta is currently a full professor of Psychiatry at the University of Barcelona, ​​credited as a professor at ANECA, and head of the Psychiatry and Psychology Service at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​where he works as a senior consultant and Director of the Bipolar Disorder Unit. This Unit is one of the world leaders in assistance, teaching, and clinical research in bipolar disorder and is financed through competitive projects by the Carlos III Health Institute, the 7th Framework Program of the European Union and the NARSAD funds United States.

Dr. Vieta is also a researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Research August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and the Center for Biomedical Research in the Mental Health Network (CIBERSAM), where he coordinates the research program on bipolar disorder. CIBERSAM has been the framework of a fruitful academic and research collaboration with the University of Valencia through different professors of the Department of Medicine (Teaching Unit of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology) and the Department of Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatments.

Throughout his professional life he has published more than 500 original articles in international magazines, more than 350 book chapters and 30 full books on bipolar disorder, both purely scientific and informative.
