Joan Fuster i Ortells (1922-1992) is the most relevant Valencian intellectual of our contemporary times. Licenciado in Law by the University of Valencia, he usually collaborated with the press while developing an important humanitarian work. The first edition of  "Nosaltres, els valencians" was published in Barcelona in May 1962 and has been an important work in the history of the Valencian people, a point of reference for the later studies and stances.

Joan Fuster i Ortells was born in Sueca in 1922, where he died in 1992.
He was thirteen years old when the war started and almost at the its end the soon to he writer was at the brink of being called up. In 1943, Fuster was send to the University. He took the studies of Law in Valencia. In the hostel where he lived, he met Josep Lluís Bausset, who showed him the Valencianism previous to 1936.
Licenciado in Law in 1948, Fuster worked afterwards in an office of critics exportation and worked as lawyer in a short space of time.
