Biographical outline:

Manuel Broseta Pont was born in Banyeres de Mariola (Alacant) on 13 October 1932.
In 1955 he completed the Licenciatura (Spanish former Undergraduate degree) in Law by the Literary University of Valencia, he studied Commercial Law.

In 1956 he began his university career in the Chair of the Professor Garrigues at the University of Madrid, where he completed his doctoral studies with a cum laude on May 1959, and there under the supervision of Joaquin Garrigues he became trainee lecturer of practical classes, and since 1961 of pre-tenured professor replacing to Professor Olivencia.

On 14 February 1964 he obtained the Chair of Commercial Law of the Faculty of Law of Valencia.

Between the years 1961 and 1965 he took over the Office of the Secretary of the Journal of Commercial Law, where he also replaced Manuel Olivencia. In 1964 he obtained the Chair of Commercial Law of the Faculty of Law of Valencia.
He also contributed decisively to the creation of the Faculty of Economic Sciences in Valencia, participating very actively in the university life.

In 1974 he promoted the training and assumed the Presidency of the Democratic Boar of the Valencian Country and later of the Taula de Forces Politiques I Sindicals del País Valenciá. At this time he became candidate of the Principal candidature of the Literary University of Valencia, led by Joaquín Colomer.

As President of the Education and Culture Committee of the Upper House, he promoted and participated in Research Committees about the problems of the Spanish University and about the problems of scientific research.
In 1985 he was awarded with the Cross of Honour of the Order of St. Raymond of Peñafort and he is named member of the Valencian Academy of Legislation and Jurisprudence.

Since 1987 he is elected member of the Council of State. In 1990 and by Decree of the President of the French Republic, on 26 March 1990, he is named Chevalier dans l’Ordre Nationale de la Légion d’Honneur.

In his memory, the City Council of Valencia raised a column, a replica of the columns that delimitate the Cloister of the historical headquarters of the General Study of Valencia, at the street of La Nau.
