Biographical outline:

Vicent Ventura died on 24 December 1998 at sixty four years. He was born in Castellón de la Plana and co-founded the Partit Socialista del País Valencià and the CCOO union of the Valencian Community. Socialist and nationalist, he took part in 1962 in a meeting of democrats in Munich, that cost him the exile and confinement.

When he returned to Valencia he found the gates barred while seeking to carry out his work as journalist and founded an advertising agency. The local press avoided him, but not so some Catalan media, where he could write regularly. One of the recurring themes of Ventura in his articles was European integration, a rare subject in the press under Franco regime in the sixties.

In 1995 Ventura received the University of Valencia Medal, in a solemn act held in the Paraninfo of La Nau. The academic body has edited a collection of Ventura's articles under the title Un home de combat.
