Joaquín Colomer Sala (Madrid, 1924 - Valencia, 2011) Doctor and Valencian politician from Madrid, he was Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Valencia from which he was rector (1979-1984) and Director of Health (1985-1995) of the Generalitat presided by the Socialist Joan Lerma.

Graduated in medicine in 1948, he obtained the Chair of Pediatrics from the University of Valencia in 1970. From March 1977 to January 1978 he was the head of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Valencian Country Council. In 1985, he was appointed Health and Consumer Counselor at the Government of Joan Lerma, a position he left in 1995. His cover as counselor coincided with the transfer of healthcare to the Generalitat (1988) and consolidated the bases of the " current Valencian health system. The new model of primary care was promoted and the healthcare network was modernized with the construction of some 150 health centers. In addition, a large part of the main hospitals, such as the Valencia Clinic, San Juan de Alicante, Elche or the General of Castellón, were renovated.

Colomer was appointed rector of the University of Valencia from 1979 to 1984. He presided over the Spanish Rectors Conference between 1982 and 1984.
