María del Carmen Fortes del Valle (Algeciras, Cádiz, 1954 - Valencia, 2010) was professor of EGB in the School of Teacher Training in Tarragona and taught in public schools of Tarragona, Valls and Valencia. Graduate in Psychology by the University of Barcelona and doctor in Psychology by the University of Valencia, in 1993 she got the chair of the University School in Evolutionary and Educational Psychology in the University of Valencia.

Expert in intervention to children with special educative needs and school psychology, she was regular collaborator in diverse centres of the Staff Development and the External School Psychological Support Service. She promoted the project Diveraulas hospitalarias, took part in training programmes of the music conservatories of the Valencian Community and of other communities and collaborated in the Life Long Training Project of the University of Valencia.

Her experiences and research studies are present in different books and publications. 2009 Teaching Excellence Award of the Social Council of the University of Valencia, she was director of the Department of Evolutionary and Educational Psychology in the Teacher Training School and was vice-director of external work placements of this centre of the University of Valencia. In the moment of her death she occupied the position of Vice-principal of Staff Development and External Work Placement of the University of Valencia.
