Julio Marín (Valencia, 1936) is Professor Emeritus of the University of Valencia.

Graduate and doctor of medicine from the University of Valencia, he was victim, along with other communist militants, of the repression of the dictatorship for his struggle for democratic freedoms, having taken part of his studies from prison and, already as a university professor, being filed in a process that led to the resignation of the Governing Board of the University of Valencia, which refused to expel students and renew teachers required by the ministerial authorities.

Dr. Marín was the first professor of pneumology at a Spanish university, and was the head of the service of this specialty at the Hospital Clínic de Valencia. Throughout his professional career he developed an intense teaching activity, healthcare provider and researcher who contributed decisively to the creation of specific units for the adequate control and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases. Along with its commitment to the progress of society, democratic values, the advancement of science and the well-being of people, Dr. Marín possesses an artistic sensibility that he has shared through donations of works of art for his preservation and public exhibition.
