The group of research of Cellular Pharmacology from the department of Pharmacology, which the principal investigator is professor Salvador F. Aliño Pellicer, has developed a genetic medicine that makes the vaccine effective against cancer. In one year might be proved in people, in case to obtain the necessary funding.

The professor Salvador F. Aliño, join with the investigators M. José Herrero, Antonio Miguel and Luis Sendra, among others, have been developed a genetic medicine that has demonstrated its efficiency against the melanoma in animals and that could be applied in any type of cancer.

Until this moment, vaccines are effective in a preventive way, before the tumor is developed, but this would imply vaccinating the whole population of all types of cancer, which is not realistic. With this new medicine, the vaccines might be applied when already the tumor has developed, since it has demonstrated an antitumoral effective response.
