The quality manual according to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard is defined as: “Document that specifies the quality management system of an institution”
The ISO Standard specifies that the organisation must establish and maintain a quality manual that includes:

- To describe and to implement an effective Quality Assurance System (SAIC)
- To provide an appropriate monitoring of the practices and activities of quality assurance
- To train the staff on the Quality Assurance System requirements
- To present the Quality Assurance System for external purposes
