The quality manual according to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard is defined as:
“Document that specifies the quality management system of an institution”
The ISO Standard specifies that the organisation must establish and maintain a quality manual that includes:
- The scope of the Internal Quality Assurance system (SGIC)
- The documented procedures or its references
- Description of the interaction between system processes
The manuals are developed by the organisation in order:
- To communicate the quality policy, procedures and requirements of the organisation
- To describe and to implement an effective Quality Assurance System (SGC)
- To provide an appropriate monitoring of the practices and activities of quality assurance
- To train the staff on the Quality Assurance System requirements
- To present the Quality Assurance System for external purposes
