The quality manual according to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard is defined as:

“Document that specifies the quality management system of an institution”

The ISO Standard specifies that the organisation must establish and maintain a quality manual that includes:

  • The scope of the Internal Quality Assurance system (SGIC)
  • The documented procedures or its references
  • Description of the interaction between system processes

The manuals are developed by the organisation in order:

  • To communicate the quality policy, procedures and requirements of the organisation
  • To describe and to implement an effective Quality Assurance System (SGC)
  • To provide an appropriate monitoring of the practices and activities of quality assurance
  • To train the staff on the Quality Assurance System requirements
  • To present the Quality Assurance System for external purposes
