Crue Universidades Españolas, in collaboration with the Network for Scientific Dissemination and Culture (RedDivulga) of the Crue R+D+i sector, launches the third edition of the contest “Your doctoral thesis in a Twitter thread: HiloTesis”. This contest of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities promotes the development of communication skills and scientific dissemination among PhD students and recent doctors from the universities that are part of Crue. To participate, you must mention the social networks of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of each institution (@cdcienciaUV for the University of Valencia) or, failing that, the institutional account (@UV_EG).

To do this, students must explain their doctoral thesis in a thread of 20 tweets maximum, in simple, accessible and attractive language. More than 300 people from 47 universities participated in the last edition of #HiloTesis.

For the first time, the three prizes will have an economic endowment of 1,000 euros each, as a result of the funding provided by the Larramendi Foundation, whose collaboration has materialised with the signing of an agreement.

The contest will take place between 00:00 on May 1 and 23:59 on May 7, 2023. Once the thread has been published, the participating research staff must register and provide the link to their thread through the form https://forms.office.com/e/Ah4zz8Ygpd.

The first tweet in the thread must quote or tag @RedDivulga, @filarramendi and the Twitter account of the participating university or, where appropriate, its UCC+I in an image, and end with “Abro #HiloTesis”. Once the threads of the participants have been received through the form, the organisation of the contest will send them to the contact person of each university.

Each participating university will choose, within ten calendar days after the end of the contest, a finalist thread that will be sent to the organisation for evaluation by the national jury proposed by RedDivulga. This jury will be made up of at least five members –one of them an expert in communication– and a representative of the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation. The ruling will take place between June 1 and 7, 2023 and the authors of the winning threads will be from three different universities.
