The Master Plan to be drawn up on the basis of the winning proposal of the ideas competition for the landscaping of the Tarongers Campus will establish the strategy to develop the process of landscape improvement of the area of action through the use of the plant fabric (trees, meadows, soft paving, etc.) as the main resource, in accordance with the requirements established in the terms and conditions of the ideas competition.

The proposed area is a consolidated urban space, which supports the intense university activity, bounded by the Tarongers Avenue to the north, the Albalat dels Tarongers street to the south, the Professor Ernest Lluch street to the east, and the street that separates the plot of the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Faculty of Social Sciences and the area pending construction to the west.

The area of action basically serves as a space for access, circulation and connection between the buildings, café terraces and lounge areas, complemented by a provisional car park next to the western boundary until the future definition of the building that will occupy this area. For its material definition, the hard pavement was used for the most part, which occupies 95% of the surface as opposed to 5% of the soft pavement, and seals the stratum of the original orchard land.

The winning proposal has to respond to the following needs:

• Urban space renovation, creating a unitary and recognisable ensemble that endows the university campus with character and environmental quality.

• Creation of sun-protected living areas.

• Provision of street furniture.

• Possibility of holding open-air events in front of the Gregori Maians library.

• Integration of the routes of the SPEIS vehicles.

• Connection and access in existing buildings.

• Relationship with the activities that take place on the ground floors of university buildings, such as the spaces destined for cafeteria terraces.

• Ensuring universal accessibility for all.

• Proposal integrating the new spaces planned (assembly hall, classroom and multiple services building).

• Study of the connection with all areas of the campus, both current and planned, taking into account the division produced by the separation between the east and west areas due to Ramon Llull street.

• Environmental sustainability and low maintenance, favouring the permeability of the sealed soil.

• Compatibility study of the execution of the works with the teaching use of the existing university buildings.
