Classical Philology is directed towards all enthusiasts of the Greco-Roman classical world: its language, literature, culture, and history. Far from being an outdated discipline or anchored in the past, the classical legacy allows us to understand the roots of European identity from its origins to the present day. The "key" –literally– to accessing that Greco-Roman world is the language, Greek and Latin, in which the documents and literature of that culture are written, which would otherwise be consigned to prehistory. Language is the key that opens doors, and "philology" –etymologically, the "love of words"– is the academic discipline that systematizes the methods and tools for reading and understanding these documents. This is the primary reason to study Latin and Greek today: to access the rich and complex Greco-Roman world and to be able to convey and communicate it to 21st-century citizens.

Our students receive personalized attention both in-person and virtually. Courses combine theoretical and practical sessions in small groups. The teaching staff is composed of professionals who are experts in various fields of philological discipline. Each year, we are visited by guest professionals from around the world: national and international congresses, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc., which complete the training itinerary. If you study this degree, you are also guaranteed full employability.

Teaching is the most common professional field for graduates in Classical Philology, but even so, the training received opens up a wider range of possible professional opportunities. Our graduates are highly valued in other labor and professional fields such as publishing, media, advertising, and cultural management in general.

The city of Valencia, due to its location, climate, and cultural offerings, is the ideal university setting to complete your training in language, literature, and culture.
