The Degree in Geography and Environment (https://www.uv.es/depgeo) allows to develop a professional activity in the field of territorial and environmental management.

Its contents are articulated around three main axes:

  • Basic knowledge in the different branches of physical geography, human geography and regional analysis.
  • Knowledge of applied geography: natural risks, territorial planning and territorial planning.
  • Geographic Information Techniques (TIG), one of the main strengths of our graduates: cartography, geographic information systems and remote sensing.

The teaching has a marked practical and applied component. One quarter of the time is devoted to practical classes and the other to field work and complementary activities. The practical classes are taught in computer rooms or cartography learning the management of specific licensed software (Idrisi, ArcGis). We have a GIS and Remote Sensing laboratory, a Geomorphology Laboratory and a Map Library with a wide range of maps, digital cartography and aerial photography. In addition, in the fourth year the students take a guided study trip of one week and, if they wish, external curricular internships in companies and institutions. Finally, students wishing to become secondary school teachers in Geography and History have a specific offer of subjects.
