Cicle de cinema ambients tòxics

This cycle addresses the conflict between public and private health and the insalubrious environments of our industrialized societies.

This cycle was coordinated by Ximo Guillem, assistant professor and PhD in Biology (University of Valencia) and Ferran Ballester, Sabrina Llop and Mary-Jose Lopez-Espinosa, teachers of the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research (FISABIO , CIBERESP. Universitat de València). It addresses the conflict between public health and unhealthy means of our industrialized societies. It is analized the extreme harmfulness of certain work environments, the health impact of water pollution, and the impact of power plants on the environment is analyzed;especially through acid rain. The three environmental health issues are considered from recent cases. But there will also be a chance to connect with a century of history as well as with visible and intense debates on future. The regulation of these media has been done, or has been ceased to perform, based on the arguments of diverse social actors. The who and how of regulation remain controversial and the three films proposed are excellent cases to revive these debates.
