The European project INCISIVE dedicated to enhancing cancer diagnosis and prediction through artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Cancer Imaging Data, is hosting the open hybrid clustering event “AI and Cancer: Unleashing Opportunities, Overcoming Challenges” co-organised with the EUCAIM project, on November 7th, 2023 in THE CUBE Innovation Hub in Madrid and virtually. Director of the Chair of Privacy and Digital Transformation and member of IRTIC Ricard Martínez will participate in the session about the ethical and legal considerations of data sharing, cybersecurity, and privacy protection in relation to the CHAIMELEON project.

Τhis gathering will provide a unique opportunity to engage with distinguished clinical experts, legal and AI experts, pioneering companies, patient associations, and esteemed representatives from diverse institutions. The event is bringing together leading partners from the AI for Health Imaging cluster (AI4HI): INCISIVE, CHAIMELEON, EuCanImage, ProCancer-I, PRIMAGE and EUCAIM.

It is a great occasion to connect with a global audience and collaborate with other experts. It is possible either join the event in-person in Madrid, in the THE CUBE Innovation Hub premises, or virtually from anywhere in the world. The European Federation for Cancer Images (EUCAIM) is a ground-breaking project aiming to power up imaging and AI towards precision medicine for Europe’s cancer patients and citizens that brings together 76 partners from 14 EU member states, among which University of Valencia provides support regarding Data Privacy. The project will address the fragmentation of existing cancer image repositories and establish a distributed Atlas of Cancer Imaging with over 60 million anonymised cancer image data from over 100,000 patients, accessible to clinicians, researchers and innovators across the EU for the development and benchmarking of trustworthy AI tools.

Regarging CHAIMELEON, it is a project that will establish an European Union-wide structured digital information repository of health imaging data. The repository will be used, among other things, as a controlled open source for experimentation with artificial intelligence in cancer research. The University of Valencia has carried out activities such as the first formal verification of the health image repository centralized in the cloud in which the initiative consists, so it has listed the potential impacts and threats that can occur, the possible origins of a misuse of the data and measures to be taken.
