The objective of the eID4Spain project is to facilitate access to Spanish public electronic services to all European citizens and companies using their national electronic identifier.

Junta de Extremadura, Diputación of Ciudad Real, the Diputació de València and the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council is working to update its connections to the Spanish eIDAS node and thus allow cross-border electronic identification of European citizens and companies. IRTIC is the coordinating entity of the Project.

Thanks to this action, community citizens can carry out any procedure electronically with their digital certificates

The objective of the eID4Spain project is to facilitate access to Spanish public electronic services to all European citizens and companies using their national electronic identifier. Thus, the Junta of Extremadura, the Diputación de Valencia- together with the company Guadaltel-, the City Council of Rivas Vaciamadrid and the Diputación de Ciudad Real work to adapt the solutions to connect to Cl@ve 2.0 according to the new interfaces and requirements.

The resulting solutions will allow electronic services offered by the four Spanish local and regional authorities to cross-border authentication in line with the requirements of the eIDAS regulation. Thus, they will facilitate access to Spanish public electronic services to all citizens and companies of Member States through the use of their national electronic identification and, therefore, ensuring cross-border mobility, supporting and strengthening the Digital Single Market.

Thanks to this action, community citizens can carry out any procedure electronically with their digital certificates.

EIDAS regulation

The eIDAS regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions, found in 2014 how, although each State was moving towards the digitalization of its public services, the digital borders between countries were an obstacle for European citizens and businesses . In this way, citizens of a Member State could not use their electronic identification to authenticate in another Member State since the national electronic identification systems of a country are not recognized by other Member States.

This is a barrier for companies and citizens that does not allow to enjoy the benefits of the foreign market. Thus, to advance the connection of the Member States, the European Commission launched the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) initiative, which aims to finance projects that guarantee cross-border mobility and support the digital single market.

Within the framework of CEF projects, IRTIC collaborates with the European Union, coordinating projects such as eID4Spain that allow public administrations to implement their electronic systems for the recognition of national identifications.
