
Professor and researcher Juan José Martínez Durá has been elected again as director of the Institute on Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC) at the Institute's Board meeting on March 12th. Among the challenges he has set for the next six years are “increasing collaboration between the institute's research groups, encouraging investment to improve activities for the promotion of research staff and enhancing the visibility of the actions carried out at the research institute”.
Juan José Martínez Durá holds a PhD in Physics specialising in computer science and electronics, has been director of the LISITT research group at IRTIC of the University of Valencia since 2005 and has been director of the Chair of Intelligent and Sustainable Territories signed with the Valencia Provincial Council since October 2024.
He is a specialist in Traffic Information Systems and the application of new technologies to information management and exchange systems. He is the author or co-author of more than 80 national and international publications and has directed more than 150 ICT-related projects of different nature, both in European Union Framework Programmes and through technology transfer contracts with companies and administrations.
Martínez Durá has been awarded the prize of the Social Council of the University of Valencia in the Research and Development category in 2009, and the INNOVACIÓN 2020 prize of the University of Valencia and Banco Santander for the contribution to the development of innovative ideas, projects, products and services of quality and impact on society in the Climate, Energy and Mobility category.
