LOD-RoadTran18 concludes the first phase of the project in which a comprehensive analysis of European legislation has been carried out in the framework of the development of Intelligent Transport Systems and their implementation in the European Union. This study lays the groundwork for the project aimed at achieving the re-use of dynamic traffic data between the countries of the European Union. The project is co-financed by the European Commission under CEF projects.

The objective of the LOD-RoadTran18 project is to ensure that traffic data from Spain and the Czech Republic improve their interoperability, distribution and reusability at European level and become open linked data.

In order to achieve this, the first phase of the project takes into account an analysis of the European Directive on Public Sector Information with the goal of examining its degree of implementation. Therefore, it has been carried out a study on the way in which public administrations provide traffic information currently. The initiative includes both the different aspects of traffic service information, its content and the way the data is published at the National Access Points (NAP).

The main objective of this activity is to analyse the impact of the implementation of European legislation in the framework of the development of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the field of road transport and for interfaces with other ways of transport and their delegated acts.

The first phase of the project has undertaken an analysis of legal and technical issues related to public sector information (PSI). In this way, the project partners have accomplished a review of existing legislation at national and European level, analysing its degree of implementation in open data public portals.

The goal is to determine what type of data and how such data should be published and how NAP should be implemented to meet the specific requirements.

At the same time, procedural issues related to the ITS directive in the field of road transport have also been analysed.

In addition, the project partners have performed an analysis of the Spanish and Czech regulations deriving from these two legislations.
