The aim of the survey on public health and population datasets in the xShare project is to obtain a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of public and population health datasets collected across European member states. Additionally, we aim to assess their potential connection with the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF) referred to in the European Health Data Space regulation.

xShare proposes that with the click of the “yellow button”, featured across health portals and digital health apps, to exercise data portability rights under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and download health data in a computable format, the European EHRxF.

Thus, the vision of the EHDS will be realized and with the ease that people share images on the mobile, to be shared health data across primary care, population health and clinical research for safe, trusted and informed care.

Through the survey, xShare members aim to aim to gain a deeper understanding of the registries where data is continuously collected and to identify priorities and objectives for new public health data collection. They also seek to document existing best practices to prevent duplication of data and enhance data quality.

The results of this survey will be used to consolidate use cases associated with the current EEHRxF, consider possible adaptations and identify new critical information domains for public health. The xShare members also intend for these results to be reused by other major initiatives, and potentially influence the drafting of the foreseen implementing acts.

The aim of this action is to have input from all European countries. For each country, datasets already identified by the entity Sciensano are listed. Then, it is only requested information not yet available, so it can be provided either by the public bodies responsible for data collection or by the clinical organisations or professionals that should provide the data.

If you feel you are not the appropriate person to answer some or all of the questions, we kindly ask you to forward the survey to the most suitable respondent. It is not necessary to answer every question for your responses to be considered valid.

The survey will be open for contributions until September 15, 2024. The responses received from each country will be continuously monitored.
