The European Researchers’ Night, one of the biggest events of scientific dissemination at European level, comes to Valencia on Friday 27th of September, in section XI of the Turia Garden, in front of the Palau de la Música. Among the activities to be held, the ChemiNova project will be presented as part of Arqueo-Ciència.ArchaeChemis.
The ChemiNova project aims to develop an intelligent computational system that goes beyond current technologies to address the structural and chemical damage to European monuments and heritage collections caused by two specific human-made threats, such as climate change and civil conflicts.
The University of Valencia (UV), the Foundation for the Promotion of Health Research of the Valencian Community (Fisabio), the INCLIVA Health Research Institute (both entities under the Ministry of Health) along with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the Delegation of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in the Valencian Community bring this celebration of science. The aim of the European Researchers’ Night is to bring science closer to society, to encourage children's interest in scientific careers, and to share with the public the work done by researchers.
The event is free admission and has about twenty workshops, games and activities in which attendees of all ages can have fun unraveling the mysteries of science. The event is organized in two shifts, one in the morning, from 10:00-13:30h, and one in the afternoon, from 16:30-19:30h.
Among the activities proposed, the public will be able to turn their cell phone into a microscope and learn about the world of bacteria that favor the health of the organism. They will also discover what is inside a plant, where genes are found and what X-Ray, RAMAN and Spectroradiometer analyses are used for when studying archaeological materials.
Other workshops include discovering what buildings and lizards have in common, testing the power of light and making “blandiblú”, among others.
The European Researchers’ Night is part of the SCIENCE GTS project, an event associated with the MSCA initiative and Citizens of the European Union funded under the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions. Call identifier: HORIZON-MSCA-2023-CITIZENS-01.
Activities at the Burjassot Campus of the UV
