The European Researchers’ Night, one of the largest scientific outreach events in Europe, will hold a new edition in Valencia under the slogan ‘Valencian science takes to the streets’ on Friday September 26th in the Viveros Gardens. The ChemiNova project team, along with their colleagues from ArchaeoScience (ArqueoCiencia), ArchaeChemis and the Department of Prehistory, Archaeology and Ancient History of the University of Valencia, will be in attendance.
The activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. At the project stand, visitors will be able to participate in citizen science initiatives and enjoy a virtual reality experience.
With this, ChemiNova aims to raise public awareness and show how new technologies can be fundamental tools for the conservation of European cultural heritage. In this sense, the initiative's team advocates that collective actions can be inspired to safeguard heritage and build resilience for the future by directly involving the public.
ChemiNova seeks to develop an intelligent computational system that goes beyond current technologies to address the structural and chemical damage suffered by European monuments and heritage collections as a result of two specific man-made threats such as climate change and civil conflicts.
The Valencian edition of European Researchers’ Night is organised by the University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the INCLIVA Health Research Institute, the Fisabio Foundation and the CSIC delegation in the Valencian Community, with the collaboration of El Paleontològic. Museum of Natural Collections.
During the day, attendees will be able to participate in nearly 30 interactive workshops covering fields such as biomedicine, genetics, microbiology, physics, chemistry, palaeontology, technology and artistic dissemination. The activities are designed for all ages and levels of knowledge.
